NAMI Peer-to-Peer
NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free 12-hour, 8-session educational program for adults living with a mental health condition. Taught by NAMI-trained volunteers who have lived experience with a mental health condition, this class includes activities, discussion, and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches. NAMI Family-to-Family NAMI Family-to-Family is a free 20-hour, 8-session educational program for family members, partners, and friends of individuals living with a mental health condition. It is a designated evidence-based program. This means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition. NAMI Connection Support Group NAMI Northern Virginia offers Peer Support Groups for adults (age 18+) living with mental health conditions. Our support groups are free and no registration is required for you to attend. These peer support groups provide a safe, judgement free, and confidential environment for attendees to share their stories, learn from one another, and offer and receive support from others with similar lived experiences. NAMI Family Support Group NAMI Northern Virginia offers Family Support Groups for family members and loved ones (age 18+) who are impacted by mental illness. Our support groups are free and no registration is required for you to attend. These family support groups provide a safe, judgement free, and confidential environment for attendees to meet with, learn from, and share with other family members, partners, and friends seeking support, education, and additional resources. NAMI In Our Own Voice (IOOV) NAMI In Our Own Voice changes attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions. These free 40, 60, or 90-minute presentations provide a personal perspective of mental health conditions, as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it's like to have a mental health condition. |
