Concerned Fairfax: History and Future
The most important function of Concerned Fairfax is to convey the concerns of Fairfax County, Fairfax City and Falls Church City residents about needed services for people who live with mental health conditions and substance use disorders. At our first meeting on June 25, 2012 the participants identified an extensive list of unmet needs and service gaps.
1. Expanding the supply of affordable housing for individuals living with chronic mental illness.
2. Expanding the public’s awareness of the services available in the community.
3. Youth and families
4. Local law enforcement and criminal justice systems
We are in the process of forming committees to address the above identified issue areas. We invite you to attend Concerned Fairfax meetings and to consider serving on one or more committees. Please submit questions or comments to ConcernedFairfax@gmail.com .
Our commitment to improvement in mental health services has been recognized by the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB), which has approved our designation as an Associate Member of the CSB’s Substance Use Disorder/Mental Health Committee. As an Associate Member, CF joins organizations such as Inova Hospital, Pathways Homes, and the Brain Foundation. This means that we will have “a seat at the table” during committee meetings and will be able to voice our concerns directly.
