ECHO Ecumenical Community Helping Others:
Springfield & Burke and parts of the following zipcodes: 22150, 22312
ECHO distributes donated clothing, school supplies and household items. We offer food and financial assistance in emergencies. Counselors provide emotional support and referrals for other services. They also oversee large holiday food basket and gift programs.
Carpenter’s Shelter:
City of Alexandria
Carpenter’s Shelter is the largest homeless shelter in Northern Virginia. Carpenter’s Education and Employment Program helps homeless individuals increase their knowledge and achieve appropriate skills and certification to enhance their employability and thrive in the community.
Loundon County Cold Weather Shelter:
Sterling Community Center
Loundon County is operating a warming station at the Sterling Community Center starting Monday January 21st. Adults ages 18 and older who need shelter from the cold weather are encouraged to come to the Sterling Community Center at 120 Enterprise Street. The Cold Weather Shelter will be open daily from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM until March 31st, 2019. In addition to a warm place to sleep, the shelter also provides case management, mental health services, and other resources.
Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness:
Arlington County
The Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness is a unique partnership between Arlington County and Arlington Community Foundation, along with several Arlington non-profits that aims to provide housing and services to the vulnerable homeless population.
Virginia Housing Alliance:
Commonwealth of Virginia
The Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) is the statewide leader in advocating for the expansion of housing opportunities and ending homelessness in the Commonwealth by empowering people on the front lines through education, training, and technical assistance. The VHA focuses on advocacy, education, and resources and program support.
National Low Income Housing Coalition:
The National Low Income Housing Coalition is dedicated solely to achieving socially just public policy that assures people with the lowest incomes in the United States have affordable and decent homes.
