NAMI Northern Virginia's education and support programs are facilitated and presented by individuals, family members and other community members with "lived experience." Program leaders bring our important perspective to classes, groups and presentations. If you have participated in a NAMI program and would like to explore becoming a trained facilitator or presenter, please download an application form below and return your completed form to contacts listed at the end of each applications.

In Our Own Voice (IOOV) Presenter Application
IOOV presenters are adults living well with a mental health condition who wish to share their personal story to bring education and hope to our community.
Ending the Silence (ETS) Presenter Application
ETS presenter teams are composed of two presenters. A young adult (ages 18-32) who experienced symptoms of a mental health condition during their K-12 school years shares their story to all audiences. An individual or a parent/caregiver of an individual who experienced symptoms of a mental health condition during their K-12 years presents information to all audiences. An educator or other school professional (who is also a parent or caregiver or who lived with a mental health condition while in school) is an essential member of the ETS for School Staff presentation. Please use the above application and indicate which role(s) you are applying for.
NAMI Family & Friends (4-hour seminar workshop)
NAMI Family & Friends is a 90-minute or four-hour seminar that informs family members of individuals who live with a mental health condition how to best support them. It's also an opportunity to meet other people in similar situations and learn that we are not alone.
Children's Challenging Behavior Application (6-hour workshop)
Children's Challenging Behavior is a 6-hour workshop for parents of children and youth with mental health needs. This workshop provides information to ease other parents' struggles and difficulties when coping with their child's mental health needs.
NAMI Provider
NAMI Provider introduces mental health professionals to the unique perspectives of individuals living a with mental health condition and family members. Presentation team includes: an individual living with a mental health condition, a family member and a medical or mental health provider who has direct lived experience and/or who is a family member. NAMISmarts for Advocacy
NAMISmarts for Advocacy is a hands-on advocacy training program that helps people living with mental illness, friends and family transform their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy.
