Staff

Executive Director - Rebecca Kiessling
​
Rebecca Kiessling is passionate about creating communities that are stigma-free, advocating for real change, and breaking down barriers to resources that can improve the lives of people, families, and communities affected by mental illness. Before joining NAMI, Rebecca worked extensively with nonprofits for almost 20 years. During her career, she has testified before Congress, received national awards for strategic communications, and built nationwide grassroots coalitions for advocacy. Most recently, she was the managing director of a nonprofit with chapters in the US and throughout the world, helping further the education of medical students. A long-time resident of Northern Virginia, Rebecca has degrees from the George Washington University and from Georgetown University, as well as a certificate in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School.
Program Coordinator - Classes & Groups: Esther Lee
​
Esther Lee served NAMI Northern Virginia as an intern and volunteer before joining our staff in 2014. Esther received her Bachelors in Public Health from James Madison University. Esther coordinates NAMI Northern Virginia's education classes and support groups.
Program Coordinator - Outreach & Education:
Lee Duffy-Ledbetter

Lee Duffy-Ledbetter has years of experience in mental health education and advocacy, having previously coordinated a national mental health awareness and suicide prevention program. Lee earned his master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland, and coordinates our NAMI In Our Own Voice program to change attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions.
Business Operations Manager:  Veronica Sholin
Veronica Sholin is an experienced bookkeeper, providing bookkeeping, finance, and administrative support to NAMI Northern Virginia. In addition to her background in bookkeeping, Veronica holds a PhD in Physics.
