NAMI Peer-to-Peer for Young Adults
NAMI Young Adult Peer-to-Peer is a free 10-session educational program for adults living with a mental health condition who are looking to better understand their condition and journey toward recovery. NAMI Young Adult Peer-to-Peer targets a younger audience than NAMI Peer-to-Peer (ages 18-36). Taught by NAMI-trained volunteers who have lived experience with a mental health condition, this class includes activities, discussion, and informative videos. NAMI Ending the Silence (ETS) NAMI Ending the Silence is a free 50-minute mental health education program designed to complement health, science, or psychology classes. Ending the Silence features individuals and family members whose lives have been affected by mental illness, who visit high schools and other locations to provide their perspectives based on their lived experience with mental health. Youth Leadership Council Youth Leadership Council are age 15-23 and care about elevating the voices of youth and young adults on mental health. The Council meets monthly and participates in volunteer training events and advocacy; share their stories on youth presenter panels; and represent NAMI Northern Virginia at community events. The Youth Leadership Council also works with NAMI Northern Virginia to plan fun social networking events and other opportunities for local youth and young adults. NAMI Provider Education NAMI Provider Education introduces mental health professionals to the unique perspectives of individuals living with mental health condition and their families. You’ll develop enhanced empathy for their daily challenges and recognize the importance of including them in all aspects of the treatment process. |
