COVID-19 Update: NAMI Northern Virginia Support Groups Offered

NAMI Northern Virginia's work to provide support to our community will continue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because we are not permitted to have in-person support groups during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are offering virtual support groups online using Zoom. You can join by phone or computer/tablet using the Zoom app; instructions below.

Connection (Peer) Virtual Support Groups: For adults (18+) living with a mental health condition

Arlington Connection Group

When: 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month; 10:15am - 11:45am

In partnership with Depression Bipolar Support Alliance of Virginia
When:  Every Tuesdays and Thursdays of each month; 7:00pm - 8:30pm

(Focus: Families and Friends of Individuals living with a mental health condition)

Using Zoom for Virtual Support Groups

How to use Zoom?
Instructions on using Zoom

Before the group:
  • Start by downloading Zoom
  • Click the download button and add the Zoom app to your computer/tablet/phone
    • If you are using a phone, there is a Zoom app on the app store that you can download. You can join the meeting by inputting the meeting id.
  • When signing in, please use your first name so that the group facilitator can accept you into the group; the facilitator/Zoom meeting host will be accepting requests as people join the meeting.
At the time of the meeting:
  • Click the hyperlink to open the meeting or type in the meeting id
  • Join the Zoom meeting
  • Be sure to select Video and Audio inputs
  • When others are speaking, please be sure to mute yourself to eliminate background noise
